Canada–Mexico Cross-Border Shipping

Trade between Canada and Mexico is booming with nearshoring, but the corridor is demanding. Trans-Inter Logistik manages it end to end: the right carrier, both border crossings and coordinated customs formalities, with no surprises.

The most demanding corridor on the continent. For us, it’s routine.

Your freight from Canada all the way to Mexico

Depending on your volume and your timeline, we pick the right mode for the corridor. Our network of vetted carriers arranges full truckload (FTL) and less than truckload (LTL) shipping with transloading at the border, in dry vans, flatbeds or refrigerated trailers depending on your cargo. For fresh and pharmaceutical products, temperature-controlled shipping protects the cold chain from end to end.
For long distances, intermodal transportation leverages the CPKC rail network, the only direct line connecting Canada to Mexico: we arrange drayage to the intermodal ramps, transit times shrink and you bypass the congestion at the border. For urgent or high-value shipments, air freight and ocean freight (full container load FCL or less than container load LCL) stay on the table, so your supply chain never stops.

The border, times two

Here is what many shippers overlook: a Canada–Mexico shipment crosses the United States. It is really a double border, and the US–Mexico crossing, often at Laredo, is where everything is decided. Our job is to make all of that invisible to you.

In Mexico, using a customs broker (agente aduanal) is mandatory, and customs clearance runs through the pedimento and the DODA. We coordinate these steps with our partners on both sides, and we secure the transloading to a Mexican carrier at the border.

How we keep your freight moving:

Shipping plan and in-bond transit. Clear pricing, an estimated transit time and documents prepared before departure for bonded transit through the United States.
Border crossing and transloading. Coordination of Mexican customs clearance and a secure transfer to a certified carrier in Mexico.
Final delivery and tracking. Visibility on your load all the way to destination, with proof of delivery.

The documents that make (or break) a smooth crossing:

the commercial invoice detailing value and goods;
the HS code for customs classification;
the bill of lading (BOL);
the pedimento and the DODA for Mexican customs clearance;
the CUSMA (T-MEC) certificate of origin for preferential tariff treatment.
